Digitized 3D Post-Printing to Enable Additive Manufacturing at Scale – Presented by Bruno Bourquet, PostProcess Technologies, at the 3D Printing Post-Processing Conference, December 4, 2018, at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands.
With the forecasted exponential growth of the industrial 3D Printing industry comes challenges for the market to scale to achieve its full potential. One of these challenges is the bottleneck in post-processing as a result of methods adopted while the market was still in its infancy. These approaches, including manual labor and traditional finishing machinery, are proving to hinder scale-up to production volumes as they result in high breakage, low throughput, and inconsistent quality.
In order to address this hurdle, post-processing must be approached with a transformative solution matching the automation and versatility inherent to the design and build steps of 3D printing. The digitalization of tribal knowledge native to post-processing is required, enabling customer-ready parts to be produced with increased throughput, consistency, and productivity. This is especially true for AM to scale in markets such as aerospace where stringent quality standards exist. Additionally, the Industry 4.0 concept / factory floor of the future cannot be achieved without the digital thread extending to the post-print step.
This presentation will compare existing post-processing techniques with a novel solution that uniquely achieves this goal of software-driven post-printing – one that intelligently drives a mechanical system for post-print finishing using chemistry tailored for the array of additive manufacturing materials. The benefits of this system will be outlined through real customer case study examples for widely-used print technologies such as FDM, PolyJet, and SLA, demonstrating transformative ROI achieved through increased throughput, consistency, and productivity.
About Bruno Bourgue
Bruno Bourguet, Managing Director of PostProcess Technologies International, has jumped back into startup life after 15 years growing businesses in the digital mapping space, including HERE, Nokia, and Navteq. Bruno knows a little something about scaling a company internationally – he drove the doubling of HERE’s revenue to more than 1B€ and positioned it strategically, leading to its acquisition by Audi, BMW, and Daimler. Adding to his distinguished track record, Bruno is a graduated engineer from INSA Lyon, holds a Master’s of Science from Arizona State University, and is a graduate from the INSEAD International Management Program in France.
About PostProcess Technologies
At PostProcess Technologies, our comprehensive system of proprietary Software, patent-pending Hardware, and eco-friendly Chemistry works together to remove the bottleneck in the third step of additive manufacturing — post-printing. We make the process of removing supports and surface finishing the printed parts easier, more consistent and more efficient.
In fact, we pioneered the development of automated and intelligent solutions for post-printing. Today, you’ll find these solutions at work across industries including aerospace, defense, automotive, consumer goods, dental, medical and more. Our technologies are designed for all 3D print materials and all 3D print technologies
About 3D Printing Post Processing Conference
The 3D Printing Post Processing Conference (09:00 hrs – 12:30 hrs) will take place on December 4, 2018, at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands, at the same location and same date as the AM Integrated Factory Conference (13:30 hrs – 17:00 hrs).
While the 3D Printing industry has strongly focused on the first two steps of 3D Printing: Design and 3D Print, the third step, Post-processing, has been overlooked. Post-processing encompasses all of the actions that are performed after parts are removed from a 3D printer.
There is no one technology that suits all 3D printing post processing applications, since the type of 3D printer, the 3D printing technology, the applied material type and the Level of labor (manual, semi-automated or automated have) have serious impact.
The post-processing phase has impact on the following parameters within and for an organisation:
This conference will cover issues, solutions and future trends.
It will be a niche and innovative event, where you will be able to join in the discussions around the main topics. The conference also includes lunch, breaks and drinks & snacks in the evening, a nice opportunity of networking with the other attendees and the speakers (you will also receive the list of participants a couple of days before the conference, so you can plan ahead).
